Four Things You Can Do Today to Make the World a Better Place for Animals

I love animals. That’s obvious.

There are a lot of people who do. From kittens to dogs to giraffes to crocodiles and every species in-between, animals are pretty awesome and it’s hard to argue against that.

If you love animals like I do, then there is a good chance you want to make the world a better place for them. It may seem daunting, but bettering the world can be easy, and you can start today if you:

Volunteer Locally
You don’t have to fly to India to work at an elephant sanctuary to make a difference. In fact, I bet your local humane society would love your help, even if you can only donate an hour or two every week. From socializing cats to walking dogs to raising awareness, spending time with animals in need in your area will create a direct, lasting change.

Go Vegan
By eliminating all animal products from your diet (meat, dairy, eggs), you will save thousands of animals over your lifetime. Going vegan can seem like an extreme change, but when you think about how many animals you are helping eliminate the suffering of, it won’t seem quite so difficult to choose the almond milk.

Rescue a Best Friend
What are you waiting for? Go to the shelter and bring home your new best friend. By rescuing an animal, not only do you get to experience years of joy and love, but you also – quite literally – save the life of that animal. Plus, you open up room in the shelter for more animals to be safe before finding their own family.

Educate Yourself
What do you know about TNR (Trap Neuter Return) efforts in your area? Are dogs allergic to certain foods? Are there any animal sanctuaries around your hometown? By educating yourself on all aspects of animal welfare, you can become an expert in helping each creature. Whether you are looking to simply keep your dog healthy or want to be a part of the conservation of wild pandas, educating yourself is the first step in making a difference.

How did you make the world better for an animal today?
