As a cat purrson, there’s no doubt you love your kitty. You spend hours each day thinking about, being around, and interacting with them. If you’re like me, there’s rarely a moment you aren’t together!
But even with all of that quality time you’re spending with your cat, are you letting them know just how much you love them?
Make sure your kitty knows they are loved with these purrfectly sweet ideas:
- Talk to Them
- Share Eye Kisses
- Respect Their Space
- Give Yummy Treats
- Play with Them
Talk to Them
The sound of your voice goes a long way when it comes to building trust and love with your cat. You may think you sound crazy while doing it, but talking to your cat throughout the day helps establish you as a calming, pawsitive presence in their lives. Talking to you kitty also signals to the cat that you are attune to their presence and paying attention to them—all signs of love!
Share Eye Kisses
Eye kisses—or slow blinks—are another great way to share with your cat that you love them. Many people believe that eye kisses are the way humans and cats can communicate “I love you” clearly to each other. Try it out with your kitty by slowly blinking your eyes at your cat while making eye contact. You may be surprised by how quickly they return the gesture!
Respect Their Space
Cats love their independence. As much as it may be tempting, don’t hover over them at all times. Let your cat be the boss of when and how they spend time with you. By having your cat be the one to choose to come to you, you’re respecting their space, which instantly helps encourage a stronger relationship.
Give Yummy Treats
If you say the word “treats” in our house, two cats will sprint to wherever you are. That’s because we love to give them yummy treats throughout the day as a way to make them happy and reward them for good behavior. Your cat will begin to associate these treats with you—and should feel the love immediately!
Play with Them
Some of the best time you can spend with your kitty is interactive play time. Playing with your cat is important for their physical and mental health. By making it a priority with your kitty, you will be showing that you love them. Not only will you be caring for their well-being, but the time spent together doing something they love will help your bond grow.
