Yeah, you read that right.
My cats like to steal bananas.
Exhibit A.
Told you.
So how did this happen? Let’s start from the beginning.
Rainbow and Belle used to get free run of the house at night while everyone else was sleeping. They’ve since had those privileges revoked and sleep exclusively in my room with me—and not just because of the banana bonanza…but that’s a story for another time.
Anyway. Back in the good ol’ days of running around at 3am, Belle would decide that it would be fun to get up on the kitchen countertops. I’m not kidding when I say I would wake up in the night and find her dancing on top of them.
One night during her shenanigans, she found the bananas.
Rainbow, the sweet, gentle giant that she is, was still on the floor. Which is exactly where Belle decided to throw a banana down to her.
Rainbow took that banana opportunity and ran with it. Literally.
She started carrying it around the entire house that night and into the next morning, making a game of keeping it away from the humans.
It was cute at first, but then my life became an actual cartoon when I would find banana peels on the stairs just waiting for me to slide on them.
Exhibit B.
Now, the bananas are stored behind closed doors.
